A little extra mustard on that fastball would you please, Jonathan?
Wow. Nice 7-6 win over the Angels tonight. Papelbon came out with the heat in the ninth to close it out - he hit 100 mph according to Remy and Don. Fastball after fastball, two K's and a fly out to seal the game.
Until I saw Pap's performance, I was going to title this post "Little Man with a Big Stick" in honor of Pedroia the Destroyah's three-double game. That kid can swing some serious lumber.
Tacoby is maintaining a high level of awesomeness - how about that beautiful drag bunt for a hit in the 8th, followed by plating the go-ahead run on a double from Pedroia? (No throw home because Bellsbury was already in the dugout, down the runway, and in the showers before the ball made it back to the infield.) Also he knocked out two! I just read this (came in during the fifth inning; just looking over the box score now. Saw his second but completely missed the fact that he got two. Perhaps he should get top billing...oh well, he has the coolest nickname).
Note from T.C. in the postgame: 7 out of 9 hitters in the lineup are stroking over .300, and that doesn't include the Large Father. That's pretty incredible. Sure, small sample size, but we're steamrolling right now.
Keep on truckin' boys.
And a Happy 49th Birthday to two-time World Series Championship-winning manager Terry Francona of the Boston Red Sox!
