Two for Two

Both Pickin' Tuesdays I've been to this year have had a few things in common: Armerdings, Zack Hickman, Pickin' Baines Johnston, Geoff Bartley, and beer.

And both shows have been fantastic.

Last night we saw some serious pickin' action, with the Old Train (Taylor Armerding) hitting the "high and lonesome" on a few classic bluegrass tunes; Zack Hickman going absolutely nuts, playing his bass like I've never seen before (normally the bass player lays the foundation; Zack somehow takes over the stage with his presence and crazy pickin'); Jake Armerding tearing it up on the fiddle and guitar as well as vocals that caused all the ladies to swoon; and bluegrass covers of Genesis's "That's All" as well as the Steve Miller Band's "Take the Money and Run."

Amanda got indoctrinated into the scene last night.

I was extremely tired, however, and was fighting to stay awake during the latter portion of the show. Unfortunate, that.

the best part of the night, for me, was when i was regaling lu with stories of how fantastic it would be if my name was amanda amerding, as we exited the ladies' and ran into the amerdings themselves. oops.
