An Incredible Pair
A coworker recently let me know about this new collaboration between Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. At first I was incredulous; Plant & Krauss? Sounded like an odd duo to me. I couldn't imagine Plant's Led Zeppelin screech working with Krauss's soft sound. But this is a great album. On Raising Sand, Plant is subdued, accompanying Krauss's angelic, ethereal voice with a very laid back, soft bluesy voice. The album is very low-key blues/folk/bluegrass. I initially wasn't thrilled with the few songs I heard, but after I acquired the CD and listened to it in its entirety, it really grew on me. I encourage fans of both artists to check it out.

I've been a fan of Alison Krauss for years, and this album - the idea of it, at least - has intrigued me for a while now. I haven't got around to listening it, but after reading your post I reckon it's about time I did.
Definitely check it out. I think it will appeal to fans of Krauss especially.
It's cool, isn't it? I haven't bought it yet but listened to the whole thing on the website. It's intriguing to say the very least.
It really is. And it grows on you for sure.
