Sabathia Wins Cy Young

Josh lost out (rather handily) in the voting for this season's Cy Young award. Not a surprise, considering that the voting is based solely on the regular season, as it should be. Sabathia had a slightly lower ERA than Beckett over 40 1/3 more innings pitched. Think about that - that's almost six additional 7-inning starts. While that is impressive, many are pointing to that tremendous regular season workload as one of the reasons why C.C. couldn't pitch his way out of a wet paper bag in the ALCS. On the flip side, many are lauding the Sox pitching staff for keeping its pitchers' workloads as low as possible. The effectiveness of Pap, Oki, Dice-K (sort of) - this wasn't an accident, people.

At any rate, for some reason I think Josh is perfectly happy with his ALCS MVP award - and his second World Series ring.
