In the immortal words of Bill Belichick, after the first game of the season (a Patriots win over the Jets):
We haven't clinched anything yet.
Indeed, Coach. Indeed. The Pats looked as good as everyone said they'd be today down in the Meadowlands - a 38-14 drubbing of Pennington and the J-E-T-S. The tall, lithe, and fleet-of-foot Moss was excellent with 9 recs for 180+ yards and a TD; Welker had 6, 60+ and a TD; Big Ben had a TD; Maroney had 20 carries and Morris put in some impressive work with 54 yards on 11 carries. Ellis Hobbs had the longest kickoff return TD in NFL history, as he took it to the house from eight yards deep in the end zone; after breaking a tackle and with the aid of some nice blocking he was gone. The Pats' D had five sacks on the day. I don't think the Jets' defense touched Brady all day as he had hours in the pocket to hit his targets downfield. It looked like Pennington broke himself again. I'm fired up for football now. Great win.
And as I type this the Sox are sitting at 2-2 in the seventh versus the Orange Birds. Let's vindicate Pedroia and force Baltimore to stuff its sorrys in a sack.
