Maybe He Did Get Whacked...

A pretty convincing argument over at BobHarris.com that Tony (and perhaps AJ) was indeed whacked in the final episode of The Sopranos.

I've read some other stuff that I didn't find particularly compelling. I thought it was a much more open-ended, ambiguous, "life goes on" sort of ending to the series. But I must admit a lot of what Harris opines on here is intriguing. Fun and interesting to discuss, at any rate. Which is, I suppose, the point of both quality entertainment and art.

Guess I will have to rewatch the finale.

Thanks to the ever-informative Chris Lynch over at A Large Regular for the tip.

Ed: I forgot to add my biggest problem with this threory - WHY would Tony get whacked? Who/why would do it? His feud with NY was kaput (for the time being; I could see NY making the move after letting the Sopranos whack Phil, but...really? I dunno) and who else was left, personally or professionally? Paulie's the last of the "inner circle" and, although it seemed like he might turn snitch in the finale, does he profit from killing T?

This is my biggest problem with the "Tony dies" theories...who kills him? Why?

There might be a buttload of symbolism there, but if it doesn't make any sense to me logically, I am going to be extremely disappointed.

Extremely.
