"Oh...Cali?"
Funny how things happen. I went to the Sox game tonight (a last minute extra ticket of a boyfriend-of-a-roommate-of-a-friend kind of jawn), and it was quite possibly the best Tuesday ever, mixed with a dash of incomprehensible, painfully severe irony (also, the Good Guys lost, which seems to be a recurring theme in the oh-so-few games I attend. NB: Not a complaint, but rather an observation, because this team is poised to do some serious damage this season).
Today, at 10:00AM, I board a jetBlue plane for Long Beach, California. California. Cali. The West Coast. The Best Coast.
I haven't been out to Cali since I peeped an Orange County-to-San Francisco jaunt as part of our Midwest/West Coast Post-graduation Road Trip in the summer of 2002. I remember: driving all the time; blonde girls; warm weather.
2 out of 3 ain't bad.
A very good friend of mine (many of you, if not most, considering my readership, know Reid, aka RAW) is getting married to his lovely fiancée Eunice this Saturday. I, along with the [in]famous LeVaur (aka: LL, Mr. Lover-Lover, LeVizzle, The Other Black Meat, Jamerican Lager) am Best Man. Or co-Best Man. However that works.
This is interesting for a few reasons:
A) It's one of those Things That Make You Feel Old[er].
B) The first person I met at Dartmouth (excluding the DOC trip), who was also my freshman year (and sophomore summer, and 9/05-9/06 roommate), is getting MARRIED. And I am IN THE WEDDING.
C) I need a vacation.
D) I happen to heart the sun, water, and fruity drinks in the aforementioned enviroment.
E) LA. It's gotta be Deece City at the least, which is fine by me.
In parting, I will leave you with the immortal [although slightly paraphrased] words of my man Christopher Wallace (aka the Notorious B.I.G., Biggie Smalls):
If I got to choose a coast I got to choose the EastBack at the ass-crackle of dawn on Monday.
I live out there, so don't go there
But that don't mean an MRhé can't rest in the West
See some nice [whut?!] in the West
Holla atchya boy!
