Baseball Is a Funny Game

Take today's final game in the Sox-Twinkies series. Schilling is cruising along for six innings, looking stellar with perfect command of his fastball, painting the corners, gathering 7 strikeouts, when all of a sudden he runs into trouble in the seventh. He makes it through two outs but ends up loading the bases and giving up a 2 RBI hit. Okajima comes in to replace him and gives up another run, giving Curt 3 ER and making what looked like a gigantic 4-run lead turn into a measly single run lead.

Thankfully Oki and Paps put the kibosh on any further Twinkie protest. Heading to Toronto on Tuesday for a brief stint before a long homestand.

Ugly news out of NYC: a win plus the addition of a *certain* Texan pitcher...
