Please Refrain

FJM here addresses a recent bout of what I consider to be the absolute worst, trite, meaningless, mind-bogglingly stupid way to talk about professional athletes: the tendency to state their actual profession as the highest possible compliment one can pay them.

It actually makes me furious. It's not even funny. I'm angry right now.

I especially like (or hate, actually) how he says that one "never used to hear" the term "baseball player" back in the day.
