Joe the Drummer

In response to Amanda's question in the comment section of this post on Mean Rachel's blog, I will talk about Joe the Drummer - the man, the myth, the musician.

Back in 2005, JCB and I went down to Killeen, TX to visit Dunndee for a few days over New Year's Eve. One night we went to Austin and visited the Ivory Cat, a singalong piano bar. Details of the trip can be found here.

Last year I returned to Tejas for Round 2 and we of course hit the Ivory Cat on multiple occasions, as related in painstaking detail here.

Joe the Drummer is the drummer at the Ivory Cat, accompanying Kenny Luna and the Other Guy on the pianoforte. So it's not just a clever name. JTD hails from Detroit, MI originally, and his skill with percussion instruments is only rivaled by his wit and joie de vivre. I am especially partial to him because every time I've been there he gives mad props to the Boston Crew.

His recent acts of generosity and general A-Sidedness with regard to Mean Rachel's recent night at the Cat further prove how sweet he is, and the fact that he not only plugged her blog to the entire bar but also commented several times simply blows my mind.

JTD really belongs just under the Gipper on the Scoreboard. Or perhaps just under yours truly.

And that, Amanda, is Joe the Drummer.

Alright, I think we all need to calm the funk down about JTD. I know you're into dudes, MRhe, but this is going overboard, even for you.

Foonyor: JTD is a demigod.

MR: Hypocrisy!

i attribute some infedels bitterness to the fact that they have a record of being b-side and missing the encore and tertiary performances in 06-07

ear infections are really painful I'll have you know.
If 1/2 would come down to tejas more often when I'm not ill, we'd live it up with JTD.

I think you will find my new Facebook group a good outlet for your repressed feelings.

anonymous: I agree.

MR: Repressed feelings? I told the entire blogosphere (or at least the 4 or 5 people who read www.meanrachel.com) that I wanted to have JTD's babies.

That ain't repressed.
